Sakura Hanami

On the West side this is a very special time of year.  Late April to early May is the blooming of High Park's Sakura trees.  For centuries, neighbours, visitors and appreciators alike have joined in the Japanese Tradition of Sakura Hanami, the "Cherry Blossom Flower Viewing".

It is truly spectacular and not to be missed.  If you're heading over this way, here are some tips. Take Cherry Hill down from the West Road to Grenadier Pond and don't forget your camera.  Riding your bike is the best option but if you plan on driving, don't get caught parking in the wrong spot.  It could be an expensive day at the park. Park for FREE on Roncesvalles.  City Councillor, Gord Perks had our meters removed and parking is now complimentary up to 3 hours, until November!  Grab yourself an ice cream at Film Buff or a coffee at Cherry Bomb, stop into Frock for some spring digs and be sure to pop your head in to see what new treasures I have found for you at Hawk Eyes.
Enjoy the day and the beauty in the park.
